Bell Ice Cube / Entertainment

As the exclusive Telecommunications Partner to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, Bell Canada wanted to deliver a unique interactive experience.

BC-based Jigsaw Interaction was able to give Bell exactly what they were looking for. Jigsaw designed and engineered a user experience with serious wow factor, mixing all the right technologies (software, hardware, lighting) to create a magical space. The project was managed and assembled using Jigsaw’s custom software/hardware platform diVATM together with Scala Content Manager. Together, the two-way communication delivered the rock-solid, robust solution needed for all hardware and sensors to respond to the environment and user actions. The end result was a remotely monitored, multi-dimensional, unique experience that allowed visitors to watch their favourite sports teams compete live in HD, learn about athletes using 12 interactive “smart cubes”, listen to live music, and mingle with some of the world’s best athletes – all under one roof.

Once inside, over 4000 visitors each day had the opportunity to engage with the space while constantly being entertained by visual and physical stimuli. The Bell Ice Cube was a critical touch point in the heart of downtown Vancouver – it succeeded in transforming the ordinary into a powerful memorable experience. This project won the Gold APEX Award at DSE 2011.
